Wii U deluxe price cut to $299, Wind Waker HD coming to eShop Sept. 20

4.6
Nintendo has slashed the price of its deluxe version of the Wii U to $299, Nintendo announced. The deluxe version, featuring a 32 GB hard drive, will now match the same price as its basic, 8 GB hard drive counterpart.

Additionally, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will launch digitally first on Nintendo's eShop September 20, with the boxed version coming October 4. The Wind Waker HD Wii U bundle will include a download code for a copy of the game, and yes, will now be the same price as other Wii U systems, $299.

News of the Wii U's price drop comes after Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said earlier this month that the Wii U's price wasn't the issue in regards to the system's underwhelming sales. While the company posted a profit in Q1 2013, it moved just 160,000 Wii U systems during that three-month span. Nintendo also announced an entirely new system today, the Nintendo 2DS.

Lia The Wii U does not look appealing at all, it's aimed at a much younger fanbase.

Even with lowering the price, I don't see them getting many sales.

I agree with you it has a much smaller fan base and the console itself 32GB is not even that much space from what it looks like they are not making that many sales anyways and I cannot see it improving over the next year or so with the PS4 and Xbox coming out.

PS4 and Xbox One are going to be the Wii U killer. I know they're doing bad already but once the next-gen consoles come out, people are going to be more interested in those and the people on the Wii U will more and likely want to switch over.

WiiU can't be killed when it was never alive

That is so true but then again I do have a friend who owns a WiiU and he is made up with it I don;t see why to be honest lmao.

Pretty fast to cut the price on a console. Proves Wii U isn't doing much to attract more sells.

I love how some of the only good games on the Wii U are remakes. Loved Wind Waker as a kid, and it still has a place in my heart. Great game, a game that made me cry after beating it the first time. As for the price cuts, doubt they'll do much.

If they want to sell more, they should drop the price even more before it is too late and people loose complete interest in the Wii U.

Seem They are just wanting to get money that's the only reason they lowered the price
Actually they were selling more of the deluxe model at a price point of $399 then they were of selling the $299 basic models. I don't see the point of lowering the price of one model so all models cost the same amount of money.
