Xbox One will allow external video capture

4.6
Microsoft’s Xbox One console will let users capture gameplay via external recording devices, Microsoft Game Studios vice president Phil Spencer has revealed to Polygon. This means that YouTubers can capture gameplay to their heart’s delight.

The Xbox One will have a High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) system, but that won’t stop players from plugging a capture device into the console’s HDMI ports.

“Yep,” said Spencer. “Exactly like it works today [on the Xbox 360].”

This means that users can capture as much gameplay as they like on an external device. However, the system will actively protect against unauthorised copies being made of content that includes HDCP.

“If all you care about is getting the gameplay, you’re fine,” Spencer said.

This follows the news that the Xbox One will be able to save the previous five minutes of gameplay internally, which players can then edit and share online.

Sounds quite nice, I'll buy the xbox one when someone gets the xbox working without the kinect camera monitoring your everyday activities

Borify Hopefully the Elgato will be usable on the Xbox One because it's by far my favorite recording device.

If will be better than the 360

phlegm I wonder if the PVR will work on this? I would really like to know because that might be a factor of either getting the PS4 or xbone, as I don't want it to go to waste.

Ehhhh, if it doesn't, people can just use the Elgato Game Capture HD, which has pretty much the same quality as the HD PVR, but for a cheaper price.

i like elgato better that pvr any way

I don't see why this is a big deal, why would Microsoft think about removing it in the first place, if they removed this aspect of the xbox, they would lose so many customers.

That's good, I mean I don't record or upload at all anymore but I still wouldn't want my PVR to be going to waste in case I want to start recording and uploading on YouTube again when on the Xbox One.
