Microsoft to offer a year of Xbox Live free to Office 365 subscribers

Microsoft has announced today that it is offering a free year of Xbox Live to Microsoft Office 365 subscribers.


The promotion is available to subscribers who purchase a one year subscription to Office 365 Home Premium, or a four year subscription to Office 365 University.

The offer is valid from today until September 28, and is available to most of Europe, Asia and Australia. Microsoft's website lists the territories where the promotion is available.

To redeem the free year of Xbox Live, users must activate their subscriptions to receive a code, which can be claimed on the Xbox website, or on the console itself. The code must be used before October 31.

According to an updated article on The Verge, the offer is now open to US residents, however Microsoft's site still does not list them as an eligible country.

I always think it is funny how they do these promotions between two Microsoft products that have nothing to do with each other. I can understand their promotion a few years back where you got a Xbox 360 with the purchase of a laptop and that could at least be used but what are the people who don't have an Xbox suppose to do? They should at least have other options?

I hardly use my PC so theres no chance of me getting Office 365. I'll just pay for Live like normal

Yea I like the deal in all, But truely they can afford more than just 365. They should make it like 10,000 because theres over 1 million people on xbox

I've never really liked the idea of Microsoft 365.. It feels like i'm just paying for Microsoft Word 2007 all over again.


I know they are only adding the xbl for more sales

True. You would be better off just buying a year of Xbox Live membership if you're not interested in Office 365
