Assassin's Creed 2 next in Xbox free games lineup

Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb confirmed this morning that Assassin's Creed 2 is the next free title in the Xbox "Games With Gold" Program. That means the Italiano assassino romp will be available for all those gratis stabs and requiescat en paces on July 16.

Announced during Microsoft's E3 press conference, the "Games with Gold" program highlighted Assassin's Creed 2 and Halo 3 on stage. After a little clarification, it turned out those two titles wouldn't be the first two games due in July. Defense Grid: The Awakening is currently free, with Ezio's exploits up next. There is no announced window for Halo 3 going free at this time.

ThisIs50 Oh my god. I just want HALO 3!

Can I ask, why? Surely you already own it and played the life out of it long ago? The only positive I can see to it is that they could potentially bring the game back to life for a month or so.

Ehh you need XBL Gold for the games on the Xbox 360. The only difference is if your gold runs out, you keep the games and don't need another gold subscription to play them.

PS+ Is effectively renting, if you let your subscription run out you can no longer play the games until you renew.

On XBL you keep the games, silver or gold.

I have PS+ though and it's fantastic value for money.

The way they get us is most of us already have all these ****king games. Especially Halo 3 if they could give us I don't know a selection list of games for us to vote on then to receive. Sucks considering I was told you were able to choose whichever games from the marketplace.
