GTA V: 'Only negligible difference between 360 and PS3 versions'

4.6
Rockstar has assured fans that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Grand Theft Auto V will be virtually indistinguishable from each other.

In a Q&A published on its own website, Rockstar addressed the issue of whether one game had a performance advantage over the other.

"Players can expect the same great gameplay experience on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms as they have both been developed in tandem," Rockstar replied.

"Like all of our games, trust that we're committed to making sure Grand Theft Auto V looks and runs as great as possible regardless of whether you pick it up for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, and we are excited for fans on both platforms to experience Grand Theft Auto V this September. We expect any visual differences to be completely negligible."

It seems the only major difference will be that the Xbox 360 version will come on two discs compared to the PlayStation 3 version's single Blu-ray disc. However, since both versions will require a mandatory 8 GB install and the Xbox 360 version only needs to run off one disc after this install, that difference could be negligible too.

Elsewhere in the article, Rockstar also shared some other information relating to the game. Players will be able to swap between the three main characters any time they like while not on a mission, and "because they have their own schedules, you'll never know what they might be doing - you might drop in on Michael in the middle of a family dispute, interrupt Franklin chatting up some ladies, or Trevor on the run from the law - or whatever else these guys do in their free time".

Rockstar also insisted that it is "completely focused" on the current gen versions of the game - though it didn't rule out next-gen editions.

The game will also come with a map, as is GTA tradition, but this time it'll be a double-sided poster map. The blueprint map provided with the Special Edition of the game will also feature additional information and secrets on it.

Grand Theft Auto V will be released on September 17 worldwide on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

RaheemSterling_31 I can't see it looking better on one console than the other?

The PS3 has surprisingly better specs than the Xbox 360 so i wouldn't be too surprised if it looks a little better on the PS3. I couldn't see any major performance differences though

I don't see why they would look different for each console anyway...

MoDOT Idk why people are fighting over what console will make it look better lol it looks fine as it is as long as the game is fun then its awesome!

Unfortunately that will be something we will all have to put up with. They will never end, people will continue to complain about which console they think is better and what not. I don't care which console is better, whether it is proven or based on opinions, I'm getting a console for me to play not to sit there and fight over which one I think is better.

I agree. The game looks great for both consoles. All that matters is the quality of the game

React-Network i'm more concerned with the xbox one and ps4 versions i could care less about the xbox 360 and ps3 versions i just want to know if there will be a significant difference on the next gen consoles.

Rockstar have not announced Grand Theft Auto 5 for the next generation consoles. We don't even know if it is going to the Xbox One and PS4 yet.
