Sony declined to bundle PS4 camera in order to best Xbox One price

Sources close to IGN have said the PlayStation 4 camera was nixed a bundled add-on with every PS4 in order to knock $100 off the original price of $499. Which is the same price as Xbox One.

Sony only informed its retail partners the camera would not be included, but never specified a lower price point in order not to tip off Microsoft before its own reveal, according to the report.

This goes against what various Sony execs have previously said, particularly Shuhei Yoshida.

IGN notes that it may have ‘beaten’ Microsoft by making the camera optional, but it has also diminished consumer adoption of the product, not to mention creating an inconsistent software support.

But a camera is not likely to have amazing features though haha! I personally would not buy it.

I honestly doubt it will.


Yeah, the Kinect and other camera devices for gaming don't cut it for me, especially since I have no room to use them


Me neither.. My bedroom simply does not have the room for me to use them properly, tried it with the 360 Kinect, didn't work.

Not many people are interested in using a camera with their gaming console. It will be pretty useful for things such as Video Chat and Live Streaming though


I'm not interested in them at all. I don't live stream or video chat while playing consoles. If I video chat with someone it's on Skype and that's it.


No one will be bothered enough for that stuff to want the bundle pack.. Just have the option to buy them seperately

I have the same feeling towards them. I don't have that much room on my desk to let stuff clutter up, especially when I'm not going to use it.
