Sony declined to bundle PS4 camera in order to best Xbox One price

Sources close to IGN have said the PlayStation 4 camera was nixed a bundled add-on with every PS4 in order to knock $100 off the original price of $499. Which is the same price as Xbox One.

Sony only informed its retail partners the camera would not be included, but never specified a lower price point in order not to tip off Microsoft before its own reveal, according to the report.

This goes against what various Sony execs have previously said, particularly Shuhei Yoshida.

IGN notes that it may have ‘beaten’ Microsoft by making the camera optional, but it has also diminished consumer adoption of the product, not to mention creating an inconsistent software support.

mysterious This is frustrating. No company has what it takes to take risks and create something truly next gen! All Sony does is stay safe and add better graphics and call it next gen. Microsoft could have been different and tried something new but no.. I wish we could have gotten games that would have been truly revolutionary.


whats next gen to you then ?

To me "Next-gen" is integrating things into gaming that we have never seen before, yes graphics is a part of next gen, but actually changing the gaming experience and they way we play and think about games.

I agree with this, that's why I wish there was an Xbox that shipped without a Kinect that I will never use...

I agree, I prefer to have to choice to buy a camera or not and use it if I want. The games are all that matters to me and neither console has overly impressed me yet.

-Trippyy this just proves my point that, that is the reason that Xbox One costs more, but there is a rumor that there will be some versions that you will be able to purchase XboxOne on its own for $400
