Xbox One requires online connection every 24 hours, at least

4.2
The Xbox One needs to connect to the internet at least once every 24 hours, or its ability to play games is shut down, a post on Xbox Wire says. This is for a player logged into his own console – if a player logs into his account on a separate console at a friend's house, for example, the Xbox One needs to be connected to the internet at least once every hour.

"With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library," Xbox Wire writes. "Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies."

This is the clearest explanation of the Xbox One's internet requirements since Microsoft's reveal on May 21. In a post it removed from Xbox Wire, Microsoft said the console "does not have to be always connected, but Xbox One does require a connection to the Internet."

Microsoft recommends a broadband internet connection of 1.5Mbps for the Xbox One, and suggests mobile broadband for those without access to an Ethernet connection. Xbox One has two wireless antennas, and a gigabit Ethernet port and 802.11n wireless.

"Because every Xbox One owner has a broadband connection, developers can create massive, persistent worlds that evolve even when you're not playing," Xbox Wire says.

KarmaRambo Most of you people are heavily overreacting to this.

Lets look at this logically..

You guys are on TTG, therefore you have an Internet connection, I can imagine you guys log into Xbox live once a day anyway, that's that problem solved. The majority of you guys are just jumping on a Sony bandwagon, complaining about a console that hasn't been released yet. E3 is right around the corner, Microsoft will probably respond to some of the issues people have with these announcements, but for the love of god, guys, you have an Internet connection, stop licking sony's ass just so you can be like everyone else.

And what if some Xbox One users decided to go on holiday? How the hell are they going to log in every 24 hours if they're gone for something like a week? Or what if you're internet gets shut down for a few days?

You come back from your holiday and log in and you can play again. It's not as if Microsoft will just delete your entire games library for not logging in. When you sign in, you can play again. I can imagine Microsoft will address issues such as ISP based issues.

It don't like Sony anymore then I like this, so stop jumping to conclusions.

This is the only thing I hate about the Xbox One. I PAID 300-600$ for a console, to own, not rent. It's MINE right? So therefore, I should be able to use what I want, without being hassled by them. Example, JTAG's aren't allowed but they won't arrest you. Your Xbox can still be played while it's JTAGed or flashed.

However, let's say I buy the Xbox One at 400$, and buy 6 games at 60$.
So I spend 760$ total on this but then I move somewhere. I won't have internet or cable for 2 weeks (I've had this happen to me before, they had too many appointments to come out earlier). So I'm sitting on my house and guess what, I can't play my console that I spent all of that money on until I get internet hooked for in 2 weeks.

It's not the fact that PS4 doesn't have this, it's how inconsiderate it is. I paid to own something and use it as much as I want, where I want. Not be dictated where an how I could.

Frozencoke If this is true than what would you do if your Internet is cut off a few days because of a wreck into a Internet pole. But I hope the Xbox won't have the things mentioned, and I hope they are rumors.

An internet pole... (omg) haha

These rumours are probably started by Sony. These won't come out to be true, and in a few years IMO the same things will happen that did with the current generation - Xbox will get more sales. If you want a PS4 get one it doesn't matter to me, just don't make assumptions on what you hear on the internet, half of it's made up. Like George Washington said 'The internet is 99% bullshit.'

What if you go on a trip lasting more than two days or something? Do you just leave your xbox one on all the time were your gone? I think the PS4 is gonna get way bigger sales.

ExoticWolfs Most people that have an xbox 360 play online or connect to xbox live, don't see the big deal.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with connecting every 24 hours. Every time I go on my 360 I always connect to Xbox Live.
