Man serving home detention opts for prison over Xbox

4.5
If crime were punishable with 11 months of solid video game downtime, this world would be chaos.

One New Zealand offender begs to differ, though: according to a report in the New Zealand Herald, a 19-year-old has opted to go to prison rather than spend the last month of his home detention term playing Xbox.
According to the report, the offender was "sick of playing Xbox" and "had run out of Xbox games to play." To combat the horror of replaying video games, he'll spend the final month of his detention term behind bars.

He even admitted that if police didn't jail him, he was at risk of breaching his home detention terms.

Seems like an attention seeking move.

What an idiot xD Why doesn't he just not play Xbox and watch movies or something? Or even get somebody to buy him a new game!

imgur I really don't see this as an actual thing. He could easily spend a month 100%ing any Bethesda game, this seems more like a publicity stunt. I hope he enjoyed his fifteen minutes of fame.

Haha, I thought that. Nobody will go to prison instead of playing xbox.

CyberPunk I dont think anyone here can actually comprehend how boring xbox is , if your not allowed out of your house, are barred from doing certain things within your house, possible scheduled and non scheduled visits from a law enforcement or other to check you are abiding by the terms, having to depend entirely on others doing your shopping, sorting any stuff out at banks etc that you cant do from home , and the only few options for months on end is the go on your computer, play on xbox or watch tv it will get relitively boring quick considering currently there isnt a whole lot out that must be appealing as its the void before game releases but just far enough after games are still pricey new and secondhand but everyone has already spilled whats happened in storylines etc.

Thank you someone finally says that. I don't blame the guy at all, I know I would do the exact same thing.

I get that Xbox can be boring, but i would never take prison time over playing Xbox.
