Microsoft: 'Keep your 360 if you want to play XBLA games'

Speaking to GameSpot, Microsoft Game Studios VP Phil Spencer advised gamers to keep hold of their Xbox 360s if they want to play XBLA games.
"Those games will continue to run on your Xbox 360 for as long as your Xbox 360 runs," he said.

"The box is not backward compatible and we think for somebody who invests in a large digital library that you want to keep your [Xbox 360]."

Spencer indicated that Microsoft intends for the Xbox 360 to co-exist with its new console, and reasoned that accessing Xbox Live accounts on both system was intended to facilitate this.

"You don't have a separate identity on Xbox One or [Xbox 360]; it's the same, you are you. My friend's network is the same on both boxes, my achievements are the same. So we think that service component is an important component to keep constant across both devices.!

Following its Xbox One reveal event, Microsoft confirmed Xbox One is not backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games. According to the company, the lack of support was due to fundamental architectural differences between the two consoles.

"[Xbox One is] architected to take full advantage of state-of-the-art processors and the infinite power of the cloud," it read.

The platform holder also promised to support its previous console "well into the future" with games and new apps. It went on to promise a 'huge' Xbox 360 reveal at E3.

Microsoft is making all the wrong moves, comments... Its almost like they dont even care about their customers And there just doing whatever they want... I have been playing ps3 for awhile and at this point im not even thinking about buying the xbox one

That's crap. If we have the 360 version of indie and arcade games, they should be backwards compatible with the One with no fees.

To all you people that think you can turn the Kinect off no what Microsoft ment is that youll have to basically unplug the whole Xbox One or there will be a switch like the Playstation so youll have to turn the Xbox off then turn off the power source.

Oh no, it's bad. THE XBOX ONE NEEDS A INTERNET CONNECTION EVERY 24 HOURS. IT DOESN'T WORK WITHOUT A KINECT ATTACHED.

It's always on. Why do you think it turns on when you say 'xbox on?'
It's possible for them to set a limit on how many people can be in the room while you watch a movie and if one more person walks it, it can charge you a fee.
You can turn the kinect off , there is no way they will charge you for a person walking in. The fact that it is even considered by you is beyond me.

He means in case you try to "mass display" a film or TV program, hopefully, if it is true then it will be limited to 10 people. Also, the console doesn't need to be out for it to be bad, you get charged for using a pre-owned game, that's bullspit! Most things on this console look bad and I'm not getting it unless it truly is better than PC, as they promised, which it won't be as PC is so much more powerful!
