Xbox One backed by Avalanche exec

4.4
Christofer Sundberg, the chief creative officer at Just Cause 2 developer Avalanche Studios, has defended Microsoft's strategy of focusing on the televisual elements of the Xbox One during the console's global reveal.

At its Xbox global media conference on May 21 Microsoft allocated the majority of discussion time to the Live TV components of the new console - a strategy which has proven divisive.
But Sundberg believes Microsoft made the right decision on the night.

"Microsoft has said that it wants to make the Xbox One an entertainment centre," he told Edge.

"If it was dubbed the ultimate gaming machine at this point, Microsoft would lose the attention of general media. This way, they are grabbing mainstream attention first and can focus entirely on gamers at E3. After that they'll have both in their grasp."

Sundberg went on to praise the Xbox division for its dedication to games and, though many have openly disagreed, suggested that Microsoft is not taking its eye off the core market.

"The Xbox is and has always been a gaming platform, and I don't see that changing with the Xbox One," he said.

There was also the suggestion that Microsoft will provide developers with more analytical player data - something which has long been requested and one of the regularly praised components of Steam

"More connectivity is obviously fantastic. It enables us to develop online features that enhance the open world gaming experience without limiting players by having to stay connected," said Sundberg.

"I think Journey and The Walking Dead were great examples on how to use connectivity to make the experience more interesting, with the anonymous connection to other players in Journey and the decision feedback in The Walking Dead.

"We were a little late using all the fun metrics we've gathered from Just Cause 2, to make the game better and interesting for our fans, but future games we are using player patterns to a larger extent."

Microsoft has said it has "more titles in development now than at any time in Xbox's history" and pledged to release 15 exclusive Xbox One games in the first year of Xbox One.

imgur At the end of the day, I don't care who backs a console. I'll always be a Microsoft fanboy.

I don't even care which console is better even if one is proven to be better, I will get the console I want to play the most and that will be the Xbox One.

I am sure it will be backed by tons of VIP's who have a big financial stake in the Xbox One's success. I wonder what his takes on the console are now that they got rid of DRM.

YIGLobbies A 500GB hard drive is just a great idea since the first Hard drive for Xbox e60 for 20GB!

Yeah, I agree. I would like a even bigger one too, maybe 750.

500 Gb should be enough though. I barley use up 250 Gb on my slim.

I tend to store things on my Xbox 360 hard drive a lot. I've gone through 1 250GB and have 47GB left in my other 250GB .-.

Wow! that's alot, what do you download then? :)

I store most of my games on my HDD, plus I have games from the XBLA stored on there. I also have a lot of profile content on one of the HDD's back from when I used to do small mods but I have never gone through them and cleared off what wasn't needed.

I use alot of my harddrive space aswell, I really shouldn't download that many games & just go to the shop :D

I do it because I have had a few scratched games in the past and I threw them away and bought the game again. If it can still read for a little bit and it's installed on your HDD, it will play the game no problem.

BDB It's good that they get some support, should bring the sales up a bit!

It will bring in mixed feelings. You will have people that support Avalanche more and likely have good things to say about the Xbox One and then the people who hate Avalanche will probably have something bad to say about the Xbox one.

True, but any type of suppport is good for the XBOX One :)
