Xbox One Controller will last ten years - Microsoft

4.3
After subjecting the Xbox One controller to rigorous testing, Microsoft claims it will last ten years.

Accessories and hardware manager for Microsoft, Bob Brown, told Pocket-Lint that the aim was to create a controller that would last ten years - the projected lifespan of the Xbox One.
Brown explains that when testing the Xbox One Controller, "each button gets pressed over and over, between 4-5 times a second," while the thumbsticks are also tested with repeated use.

The test determines not only how the controller can withstand vigorous button mashing, but also whether each button delivers the right result, regardless of how many times it has been pressed.

The controllers are also dropped repeatedly in order to determine shock points, and to ensure the inside is not damaged on collision.

The Xbox One controller has been finalised, however Brown says testing is still ongoing. Currently, the controller can handle over 3 million button presses, which Brown claims is over the target.

Daytona that'd be amazing, but I highly doubt it ;(

same people game to much now so it will probably last about 2 years max id say

other than thumb sticks i don't see why everyone is saying that is has no shot, my original 360 controller from 5 years ago still works beautifully but just needs more grip on the sticks. so why couldn't this last 10+ when the 360 controllers last just fine? just don't throw your controllers and you'll be fine. as a side note when i gamed heavily i would need new sticks roughly every month so its not as if i haven't even used my controllers.
