Epic VP: PS4 and Xbox One 'not a generation ahead of PC'

4.7
There's no way that PS4 and Xbox One are "a generation ahead" of high end PCs, according to Epic Games vice president Mark Rein.

He took to Twitter to react to comments made by EA chief technology officer Rajat Teneja, who said last week of the upcoming consoles:
"These architectures are a generation ahead of the highest end PC on the market and their unique design of the hardware, the underlying operating system and the live service layer create one of the most compelling platforms to reimagine game mechanics."

Rein said in response:

Woof There still gonna be good but 400 for a console when you can get a pc for that that can run everything lawls

a $400 pc will not run many games at all, maybe on low settings, especially compared to the way consoles work

******** i can build a pc that can run most games on medium for 350 just did it for bro

Lol stop. $100 for the OS assuming your aren't pirating it leaves you $250 for parts. Ain't no way in hell you can build a PC for that much that can run games like Crysis 3 on medium.

I built a friend of mine a gaming PC which was more than adequate for playing Crysis 3 on high specs with a stable FPS of 45, for under 400 pound, with an AMD A8-5600K Processor, Radeon HD 7770 Graphics card, 16GB Corsair vengeance 1600MHz RAM, 2TB hard drive and a decent motherboard, you can easily build a decent gaming PC if you find good places to buy the parts, with Ebuyer and Newegg being 2 good places to start.

What about the PSU? And 400 pounds is about $600 U.S. dollars. Which is $250 more than the original budget, so ofc you can build a decent PC for $600. But, you can get a console for $200 cheaper. I spent $1600 on my PC and it runs Crysis 3 on max but it's not pushing 60+ fps or anything. Tell your friend good luck with playing whatever the next big graphical demanding game there is without having to upgrade.

if you spent $1600 on a pc and aren't getting 60 fps on Crysis 3. You obviously didn't build and probably bought a Alienware Piece of ****.

I see you're quite the dumb ass. The GTX Titan is a $1000 card and on very high it maxes out at 53 fps, with a minimum 33 fps. How do you expect my 7970 which is $600 cheaper to get 60+ fps on very high? Please shut the **** up, thanks.

Erm, what the **** titan are you talking about? My 7970 pushed 60 fps on Crysis BEFORE overclock. Perhaps your CPU is a little bottlenecky?
As for the platform war going on here. Pay a lot upfront and get cheaper games on PC via Steam, sales, GoG, Greenman Games, Desura ect AND CD Key websites sell stuff cheap as chips.

The last consoles were running for 8 years. Console games release at full price around 50 I can get that same game for (free if I was a pirate) 30-40.
I currently own 130 games on Steam and I payed roughly 5200 (without the HUGE amount saved on sales which takes it at a guess under the 3000 mark) on those while a console would run around 6500 for just GAMES. the amount I have saved over that time without factoring in LIVE costs (bumping it to 7075) is plenty to upgrade my PC and still spend less than a console player and I don't have to deal with a controller that cramps my hands and doesn't even have enough buttons to enable leaning on Call of Duty (Lol).

I see a lot of people wanting ArmA on Console too. Here is a lesson in the playerbase status of both systems. Released on Console there was an "ArmA" game of sorts called Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. You all hated it and said it was too hard :(. the playerbase and ads after paying for gold, lack of mod support, close platform, limited things you can do with said platform, the METRO interface (ewwwwww), overpriced games, ZERO free to play titles. Oh, sorry I forgot there are F2P titles on xbox. It's called Happy Wars LOL.
there are my reasons for playing PC. Notice that I didn't bring up Graphics or MINE IS MOAR POWERFULLZ LAWL. Instead I listed the many other reasons (there are lots more MMOs, anyone?) that I know of to show why PC is/was/has been and always will be the superior platform.

GGWP

PS: Our machines run the servers for your games, do the graphics work for your games, code your games and then devs turn around and **** us over. HALO was meant to be a PC title. Although, looking at the people who play it now I'm glad it wasn't.

You're talking alot, but saying nothing. You push 60 fps with a 7970? You must be playing on low with some terrible looking resolution like 1024 x 768. Tomshardware did these benchmarks and they weren't getting over 60 fps on 1920x1080. You expect me to believe you over tomshardware? Lol bitch please.

And woah PCs do the graphic work for console games? Captain Obvious is in the building! The **** do you expect? For them to build a console and code the game on the console? You want to play Halo? Go buy Halo CE for PC, or get a console and stop bitching.

so you built a single core computer with 4GB's of ram and a geforce 210 lol

that's gonna run nothing on **** settings.

Exactly. And not to mention a monitor and OS.

Stop it guys, you're making PC look bad! All the little CoD kiddies will stick with console no matter what it is, no matter how more advanced PC will get! Even though PC is for dons!

Pc is for no life ass geeks lmao. i come home from work. so sum drugs and have a great time on the console.. dons lmfao..

You seem to contradict yourself. Pc gamers are no-lifs..." I come home to my console and use drugs"...

cil PC will always be ahead of gaming consoles. There's even new intel CPU's coming out in June or July. Shows how much PC are ahead of consoles. To get a new generation of consoles you have to wait 5 or 6 years, for a new gen of pc you need to wait 2 years even less.

PC > Consoles.

Your logic gave me cancer. How does having a new CPU come out show anything?

To get a new generation CPU you're right about only having to wait 2 years. But what about the $200 you have to spend on the CPU and $100+ on a new motherboard?

You fail, please stop making PC gamers look based.

Your prices gave me cancer.... I wish it was only $200 for a new cpu..

you guys arguing about PC gave me cancer

When will people realize that PC will always be ahead of consoles? When a console is released, you are stuck with the same hardware, which was available for PC 2-3 years earlier, for what? around 5 years? While it is pretty darn simple to take a PC and install a new graphics card, processor, more RAM etc. I've owned the PC I am using right now for 3 years, but every year i take 200 out of my savings and spend some money upgrading my specs. This money could be used paying for bills, supplies for my house, or even petrol to get to college, but because i'm not a lazy slob and I work for a living, I can afford these things. Sure, i don't buy the top of the market stuff, like i wont be buying the new Nvidia GTX 780, but i buy components which can still easily out-perform the console.

Also, on this stupid debate about how PC gamers have no life, I'm 18 and currently attending College, I also have a part time job working as an IT specialist for a local company, I wake up on College days at 6AM, and I don't arrive home till around 6PM, if i have time, i'll play a game or two, if not, I won't, just because I'm a PC gamer, do I still have no life? Console gamers can no life just as much as some PC gamers.

People are always like "OMG PC gamers are such nerds and no lifes", so you're stating the fact that PC gamers are smart people and have some spare time? So what? I can guarantee you people who always say that, there are just as many people on Xbox and PS3 who no life on games, look at a large proportion of the Call of Duty fans, they spend every waking moment that they aren't at school or working playing Call of Duty, racking up a full days game time in less than a week, if you ask me that is just as bad as someone who sits and plays World of Warcraft or League of Legends during any free time, both consoles have no lifers, it's just that most Xbox fanboys are so defensive of their console they refuse to admit it.

TL;DR, stop sucking up your consoles backside and realize you are no better than these PC gamers you speak of, you spend every waking day when console vs PC is mentioned arguing a moot point, PC will always be ahead, face it.
