Call of Duty Ghosts to feature Kinect voice commands

4.6
Call of Duty: Ghosts has been designed to incorporate Kinect voice commands.

Eric Hirshberg, chief executive of Activision's game publishing arm, said in-game voice commands via Kinect "really excite us because of the level of responsiveness and detail".
On Tuesday, Microsoft revealed that its next generation console, Xbox One, would be packaged with a second-generation edition of Kinect. The new camera-based technology is said to be so advanced that it can track eye movement and detect heart rate.

Hirshberg told Venturebeat that Activision has "always made sure that we don't just use new technology for novelty's sake".

"We always make sure that it makes the gameplay better. In this case, we think it will," he added.

Activision offered the first look at Call of Duty: Ghosts during Microsoft's Xbox One presentation, when it confirmed that Xbox will receive timed-exclusive DLC for the game.

It is not yet known whether Ghost will support the PS4 Eye camera's microphone.

Hirshberg said he was unable to elaborate further. "You heard us reference the fact that the downloadable content will be available first on Xbox, which is something that we've had in the past. I don't have more announcements other than that except to say that we've had a great partnership with Microsoft".

In the wake of the Xbox One reveal, critics and commentators have formed no consensus on the viability and appeal of the machine. Hirshberg said Microsoft should show Xbox One's gaming credentials as a priority.

"They all have to be great game machines first. I think that's the tip of the sword. Everyone's trying to own the living room and own the entire entertainment experience, but it's a game machine first and foremost. We've been pleased with Xbox's approach."

I don't see how you can use this in a game like Call of Duty, I just hope that it is something that isn't required and is just something that improves the experience of your game but you don't need it to play.

This is actually really bad! Why on earth would you want to control your character by talking to the kinect?

I can see this being extremely buggy.

This would have quite a few flaws, but It would be awesome if it worked how people hope it would.

I wonder what commands will go along with Ghosts.

ExoticWolfs This is cool, but I see a lot of bugs and things that can just go wrong with this.

I mean, that's basically with any new device

Wagering That's a cool thing to have, but I still prefer manual controllers.

They're a lot more reliable than trying to talk to your xbox.

I could see it being buggy.

Its obvious that it will have some bugs, take SIRI as an example...
