Update 13 will add Drift Mode to Forza Motorsport. In this mode, players will compete to have the highest Drift Score, which will be determined by the "speed, angle, and duration" of their drifts. Additionally, Update 13 will add new opportunities for Practice and Qualifying in Private Multiplayer races, and it will add new upgrades for Forza Race Regulations. Full details about these additions have yet to be revealed, though players do not need to wait long for more information, as the update's release notes will be made available on Monday, October 14.
Update 13 will also mark the debut of Sunset Peninsula, a track that has not been seen since 2011's Forza Motorsport 4. The developer has further confirmed that fans can race on five layouts of Sunset Peninsula, and the club circuit and the 2.78-mile full circuit are among those layouts. Forza Motorsport players can also look forward to racing on the returning Bathurst track, though that will not be added to the game until December's Update 15.
October 14 at 4pm PDT
Update 13 is set to be released on Wednesday, October 16 at 4pm PDT, though Turn 10 has indicated that it will "begin rolling out the update for download" when the release notes are made available on October 14. Notably, the release of this Forza Motorsport update also marks the beginning of "Mustang Month," which is connected to another aspect of the game's one-year anniversary celebration: free new cars.
Indeed, all players will have the opportunity to freely claim three new Mustang cars in Forza Motorsport as soon as Update 13 is live (and Mustang Month has officially begun). Those cars are the 2024 Ford #25 Mustang RTR, the 2024 Ford #88 Mustang RTR, and the 2024 Ford #130 Mustang RTR, and players will find them in the Showroom as soon as they are available. Additionally, players that own the Forza Motorsport Car Pass, the Deluxe Edition, the Premium Edition, or the Premium Add-Ons Bundle will have access to a fourth free car: the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse.
Turn 10 is not only using Forza Motorsport's anniversary as an opportunity to look towards the game's future, as the developer has also released some stats from the year that has past. Those stats reveal that Kyalami - Grand Prix Circuit is the most-played track (at 5,764,014 races played) and that the 2020 Honda #73 LA Honda World Racing Civic is the most-driven car (at 3,380,075 races played). It is further indicated that a total of 162,544,532 races have been played since the game's launch, and fans of racing sims will undoubtedly drive many more miles in the year to come.
