Halo Infinite Kicks Off Halloween 2024 Event

3.8
Halo Infinite launches its limited time Operation: Halloween event, tasking players to survive the undead with a new playlist, 3 maps, and a reward track full of seasonally inspired rewards. Although Halo Infinite didn't have the smoothest of starts, 343 Industries, now known as Halo Studios, has managed to find its footing over the past couple of years thanks to continued efforts to keep the game updated both with fixes and quality of life improvements, as well as new content.

While it may have gotten off to a slower start than many players would have liked, Halo Infinite's live service plans enabled the studio to continue offering new content, seasons, and events for players to check out. Over the years, players have seen a variety of "Operations" or limited-time events like Cyber Showdown, Fractures, The Yappening to name a few. Halo Infinite has even mixed with specific real world seasonal events such as the winter holiday months with Winter Contingency, though this year, the game is finally leaning heavily into Halloween for its next content release.

Known as Operation: Halloween, Halo Infinite is adding a new playlist called Survive the Undead, which pits a team of players against waves of the undead, tasking them with surviving for as long as possible. While Survive the Undead attempts to put its own unique twist on the classic Halo Firefight game mode, Halo Studios collaborated with the Forge Falcons on this game mode, as well as the three maps being added: Countdown of the Dead, Night of the Dead, and Installation of the Undead. Players may remember the Forge Falcons for the group's work with Halo's Forge feature, attempting to create unique game modes like a Battle Royale and Helldivers 2-inspired experience.

Naturally, with a new Operation comes new rewards as well. The free 20-tier Operation Pass comes with a new themed armor set appropriately known as Spartanstein that also comes with the Pestilent Winds legendary armor FX as an instant purchase bonus for those who want a bit more out of the pass. In addition, Halo Infinite's Exchange shop has been refreshed as well, which allows players to use Spartan Points to purchase more customization items from past operations. The shop also has the Stellar Eclipse and Molten Chrome Bundles, containing armor sets, attachments, armor coating, and more. For those interested, Operation: Halloween is live now in-game and comes to a close on November 5.

Recently, there has been a lot of news regarding the future of the franchise, as players continued to wonder when a new game announcement would be arriving. However, while also rebranding into Halo Studios, the developer instead gave players a look into the longterm future of the franchise, including the confirmation that the Halo series will be utilizing Unreal Engine 5 going forward. The studio did confirm it does have projects in the works, but it is not yet ready to show off anything specific from them, instead offering fans a look at what Halo could look like with UE5 tech powering it.
