Battlefield 13-20 domains registered by EA

4.7
Electronic Arts – using a known third-party service – registered the dot-com domains for Battlefield's 13-20. Fusible took note of the registrations, going on to mention that EA owns most of the Battlefield domains between one and 20 now. Battlefield 4 is expected to launch later this year.

Although the initial instinct may be to call this long-term planning a little overdone, it's not so crazy if Battlefield takes the annualized approach á la an EA Sports title. Battlefield '14 through Battlefield '20 doesn't sound so crazy now.

What's with all these companies grabbing so many domains?

Thats a lot more battlefields. I don't think this means much, they just want to have it in place and maybe go that far but they should rename it by then, so we don't have battlefield 4,5,6,7,8... That would not sound good after a while and it would get quite repetitive.

I'm surprised they did not already own them.

EA does that, not battlefield, every EA game you have to have some sort of online pass to go inline. They are in it for the money, but they have good online. :) It is also worth getting it for $10.

I don't think it means all that much that they register domains. Literally every company owns hundreds.

You will they always do that.

They didn't do that for MOH: Warfighter which is made by EA. So there is a possibility that it might be free.

I never understood why you'd give games that are supposedly going to have way too many successors numerical titles. "Battlefield 15" makes it sound overused. CoD, even though it's awful IMO, is smart enough to keep down the numbers. The highest number? 3.

Just another quick way for them to make money

if you dont like buying online passes buy the game new. when you buy it used gamestop or bestbuy or your friends get 100%profit for themselves and the developer gets none.thats why online passes are a thing.
