Next gen Xbox will have Blu-Ray!

4.2
Earlier today, a Microsoft Durango Development Kit popped up on the internet. Included with the leak were 5 images of the "Microsoft Durango XDK Documentation Setup" which shed light on previously unknown parts of the console's hardware and functionality.

What we find to be the most significant aspect of the leaked documentation can be seen in the image below. It says: "Durango consoles will have a Blu-Ray Disc drive. Disc media will be used for distribution, but during gameplay, games will not use content from the optical disc." What do you think of this?

I guess that's good but almost everybody already has a blu ray player. If they included a blu ray player in the Xbox 360 like they did with the ps3 it would have been much better.

This was kind of a given, however the fact that it doesn't support optical disk play may be bad. I'm not sure how it will affect people who play, but rental stores might struggle. If the disk is scratched in the smallest spot it might not allow it to download to the HDD, like the current Gen xbox. But who knows.. I have no idea how easy/hard it is to scratch a blue-ray disk.

newtonballs26 This means better quality for games and movies you watch on your Xbox. And friggin scratch-proof discs!

I think scratch proof is gonna be the best part.

zG7s Better quality and gaming and no scratches, epic.

It is pretty nice, wont have to worry about games getting effed up.

Zeff I like this, blu ray Is good.

Is there really a difference between blueray and the dvd?

Blueray discs can hold up to 5x more than the biggest DVD disk and almost 70x more than a CD. So blueray has bigger diskspace along with a marginal graphical quality increase.
