It is vital for a console to have a easy-to-use UI - and console developers need to make it easy for everyone to use. So, here's some of the details that we have managed to pick up on regarding the user interface:

You can push the power button to suspend the current session which will in turn save it in to RAM.

Secondary chip, which is used for uploads and downloads continues doing a task in the background.

Digital titles can be played while something is downloading.

Gaikai will be essential for PlayStation 4 cloud games.

You can turn the console off and return to where you were on the game in question.

_PinkiePie Only bad part is the ram

People can have 4gbs of ram on a computer with a full os running and a game, They play fine. Why would the PS4 need more. The games it plays will be optimized for that hardware.

I actually am, I quite enjoy this new layout. Looks way cleaner than before, to me at least.

Zwrq 16 GB would be so much better...

Current gen had 512 MB, this generation has 16 times that. There's no need for anymore, you can game perfectly fine on a computer with 8 gigs of ram and that includes running lot more intensive OS, the 8 gigabytes is more than enough if you ask me

yet a computer with 16 GB can run everything even cleaner and smoother, I want the best possible, not the cheapest.

Having 16gb of RAM is almost pointless. No standard user will use all 16GB. The first couple years of the PS4 being released, if it has 8GB of RAM it won't even use it all, it won't be till the games improve vastly they then might start making a dent.

I suppose you could argue that having 16GB of RAM would future proof the console but by the time the games even get close to using that much RAM all the other hardware will be outdated.

Also you do realise that the RAM in question is GDDR5 Memory.

8GB of GDDR5 memory gives a bandwidth of 176GB/s. That is WAY more than enough.

ME0W How would you play a game as it is downloading?

That's what I'm thinking too...

Games on PC have done this for a few years now. Example - you download a chunk, say 1-2gb then start playing the remainder of the game is downloaded/streamed in the background while playing. Examples of this are Guild Wars 1 + 2, World of Warcraft etc.
