Rumor: PS4 to stream PS3 games via Gaikai

According to reports, the PlayStation 4 may be capable of playing PS3 games via. the cloud streaming service, Gaikai.

Sony will the Gaikai cloud gaming service to bring PS3 games to the next-generation console, stated in Wall Street Journal report.

If this is true, it would bring a solution to the issue of backwards compatibility on the PS4.

Sony acquired the cloud-based gaming service of Gaikai for around about $380 million in July 2012.

Sony hasn't said much on their plans for the Gaikai, other than saying that while it "will be focused on Sony's game machines", it will also be "expanding the technology to other Sony products is absolutely within the frame".

They confirmed they will? Xbox should take notes.


I really am surprised that Microsoft hasn't "talked" about the next gen. console that much. I think they created a 720 that was inferior to the innovations on the ps4, and when the sony console was announced Xbox had to go back to the drawing board. So, I think the new xbox will be a equal match for the ps4.

Sure, it's always good when you can use something from the past. But, why not just make the ps4 backwards compatible so you can use the actual physical disc.
