GTA 5 'could outsell Call of Duty'

Analysts have predicted that Grand Theft Auto 5 could sell over 18 million copies, which would knock Call of Duty off of the top spot on the charts.

Sources estimate that development costs for the game will total around $137.5 million. That's taking into account a 250-strong development team working over five years. It is also estimated a marketing spend of between $69 million and $109.3 million.

The game could sell anywhere between 16 million and 25 million, generating profit from $193.6 million to $390.8 million.

It is said that GTA 5 could also give Activision's Call of Duty a run for it's money on the top of the charts. Which we all know full and well that Call of Duty normally has annual chart dominance.

Yeah i think GTA 5 will outsell Call of Duty. Just wish they would quit moving the release date :(

DeadlyDasher Another game thats suppose to outsell COD lol. We went through this with BF3, Halo 4, Halo Reach, etc. Sorry, they all failed to do so, but does that mean the game is bad? No. I looked up the full article and it says the analyst used a "hypothetical probability model"

Yea but what do BF3, Halo 4, Halo Reach all have in common? They are First Person Shooters. There is much more stuff possible with Grand Theft Auto unlike cod, halo and bf3 where it is just run, shoot, kill.


You have vehicles in Halo 4 and BF3 that you can fly and drive.

I'm thinking this is going to happen. I don't know a single person who doesn't enjoy GTA, whereas the FPS market is split between the Halo people, CoD people and Battlefield people.

No, no it won't. I wish that would happen, but even if it does, when COD: MW4 comes out, it will outsell GTA 5 yet again.
