Plummiting Xbox sales push Microsoft revenues down

4.7
Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices division generated $3.8 billion in revenue in the last three months of 2012, as 5.9 million Xbox 360 consoles were shipped, which is down from 8.2 million during the same time last year.

The company also made $1.1 billion less than it did last year. According to Microsoft, this was "due mainly to lower volumes of consoles sold and lower video game revenue."

All-in-all, the Entertainment and Devices Division, saw profits up and revenues down. This was due to a reduction in marketing costs, and the latter was a because of dwindling demand for Xbox 360 consoles.

DemonSurfer Most people i know are selling the 360's and getting tablets and PS3's instead, they always have them on the local for sale pages on Facebook and in the papers etc Probably sick of the same old thing. As for the new consoles flying off the shelves, how the hell do you work that out as no one has even seen one yet or any of the games?? I'm sure most people don't just happen to have around 4 - 500 quid lying around just desperate to blow it all on the new XBOX.
Sounds like your a PS3 fanboy, the PS3 is no different than the Xbox just with more screwed up Game lobbies and "hacked" consoles

Not at all,i have all the current consoles, also XBOX is "hacked" with Jtag's and RGH.

PS3's also have jailbraks with are like Jtag's and RGH's

As for screwed up game lobbies? I agree XBOX Live is better but so many people cheat because they have low self esteem and think people actually care about stats it ruins it any ways.Honestly you know when people have cheated it's just so obvious so why bother?

JTAG's and RGH's cant go online unless the person pays around $300 a week. Modded lobbies are few and far between. The PS3 however only requires a USB to hack.

Because we're waiting for the next Xbox, Microsoft! Nobody wants to buy a 360 and then have the new one come out!

PML :L its cos ps3 plays bluerays and xbox u have 2 buy a blueray reader

No. It's because everyone already has an Xbox >3 years old. Oh and I think you need to get your money back on that PS3, everyone else has Bluray yet you have some special edition Blueray. Enjoy your long load times and 'superior' graphics on a TV that no doubt can't even handle 720p.

Why are they selling their xboxes for PS3? that's the burning question here.

because ps3 plays blu rays as a bounus and they dont ban your console and make you buy overy priced accessorys i bought the 360 but will defently not be making the same mistake when the next consoles come out

"because PS3 plays blu rays" In fact, the majority of the people don't buy blu ray movies because they download or watch them online. Second, I'm glad that Microsoft enforce more the rules than PS3. They ban consoles that have been modified (flashed, j-tag or RGH) and temporary ban people who mod a gamesave that could affect online gameplay. Sony is now banning PS3 consoles too like Microsoft ( http://www.digital-digest.com/news-62902-PS3-Jailbreak-Users-Being-Banned-On-PSN.html ) for the same reason. And "overpriced accessories" seriously. The best thing about the xbox controller that I love is that you can switch the battery. If your PS3 controller's battery gets damage then you have to buy a new one ($45 to $60), compare to xbox you can switch the battery and buy new one in $10 to &20 which you save $25 or more. Others accessories are unnecessary.
