Wii U hacked after less than 24 hours.

Member of the NeoGAF forum, Trike has managed to stumble their way into the Wii U's Miiverse admin menu. User Trike commented that they were able to enter this “debug mode” by pressing 'X' on the Miiverse exit button.

This allowed them access to information not meant for public viewing and seemingly giving them the privilege to delete other user's accounts.

The Debug menu contained developer forums which included information about potentially upcoming titles including Yoshi's Island Wii U, Soul Hackers, Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil.

Within hours of Trike going public with his findings, Nintendo had revoked Trike's access and issued a statement that the incident was not a hoax and that users will no longer be access the menu system.

Nintendo stated:
"It has come to our attention that some people were able to access a mock up menu on Miiverse following the launch of Wii U in the US,"

"Please note that this was only a mock up menu and has now been removed and is not accessible."

The ease in which Trike managed to access hidden parts of the online network has obviously raised eyebrows and caused concerns about Nintendo's ability to protect its users personal information.

theartftw Trying to understand here, so somehow a user got access to Dev tools and information through a normal console..?

It seems as if users were able to access a menu that they forgot to remove on regular consoles.

Waiting to buy one of these consoles until they get a homebrew hack working
