Diablo 4 Developers Promise Better Queue Times And Server Stability

3.3
Diablo 4 Community Manager PezRadar provided an update (via the Blizzard forums) on the long queues and occasional server disconnects on early access, saying that the team is actively working on a fix for all of these issues.

The Diablo 4 early access Beta just launched yesterday, March 17, and is scheduled to run until March 20th at 3 pm Eastern Daylight Time. However, many players are currently unable to log into the beta, and most login screens indicate that players must wait at least two hours before they can join the game. Also, if a player logs out, the timer will be reset.

Because of this, PezRadar's first recommendation is that players stay in the queue to make sure their timer doesn't reset. For now, the team is working manually to manage the rate at which players enter the game until a full fix for the disconnection issue is available, and PezRader promises that queue times will be significantly reduced once the issue is resolved.

A list of known issues that players are experiencing has already been posted, and additional issues have been highlighted in addition to the queue dilemma. These include in-game voice chat not working properly for some players, various performance issues, buttons not leading to the correct menus, and cutscenes causing character shadows to glitch if not skipped. The post also reassures players that more spoken languages other than English will be available when the game launches on June 6 this year.

In a follow-up post to the queue update statement, four issues are detailed that the team is currently prioritizing, tracking, and working on: Players not being able to join a party while in-game, players receiving an error that their party does not exist, rubberbanding when transitioning between zones, and high RAM and GPU usage on certain hardware.

Rubberbanding is an effect that occurs in online video games due to high latency or bing, which causes a noticeable lag in games. When a lag occurs, a moving object, such as a character model, appears to jump from one place to another, as if teleporting or being shot using a rubber band.

The team will provide further updates on the situation in the forums later tonight and tomorrow morning.
