One of the biggest surprises of 2023 so far was Nintendo revealing and then subsequently shadowdropping the long-rumoured Metroid Prime Remastered on the same day. Alongside the digital release, which has been out for a few weeks now, Nintendo also offered a physical version of the remaster, which has quickly become very hard to find in the US.
In the US, Metroid Prime Remastered is sold out at GameStop, Best Buy, and Target, and isn't even available to purchase physically on Amazon anymore. No matter where you look, Metroid Prime Remastered isn't for sale anymore. Well, except for one place - eBay.
That's right, Metroid Prime Remastered is continuing the long tradition of rare Nintendo merchandise selling out quickly and then going up on eBay for ludicrous prices, which is something we just saw with the collector's edition of Tears of the Kingdom. It's not quite as bad as that example, but a quick scan around shows that most copies of the game are going for at least $80, double the asking price of $40.
There are some listings that are asking for much more than that, however. Some particularly brave eBay users are expecting between $100 and $150 for Metroid Prime Remastered, which is nearly triple what Nintendo is asking for. Typically, this is one of the few times that Nintendo has sold a port for less than full price, and it's clearly being taken advantage of.
Funnily enough, although Metroid Prime Remastered is sold out at a few retailers in the UK, it's nowhere near as bad as it is in the US. Most shops still have it in stock and at its recommended retail price, and even the listings on eBay are asking for a totally fair price. If you're desperate to get a physical copy of Metroid Prime Remastered, then it might be best to see if any of the UK retailers will ship to your location.
