Valorant Confirms Three New Agents Set To Release In 2023

4.3
Valorant's character producer John Goscicki has shared more details on Riot's plans for 2023, announcing that the game will receive one new Initiator, one new Sentinel, and a classified third agent this year. Goscicki's reluctance to share details on the third agent's role has led to speculation that a fifth role could be in the works at Riot.

"Soon, Agent 22 will be joining the fight," said Goscicki. "Bringing their own eclectic way to deal with situations. New ways to check corners, get onto locations, plant the Spike." As the descriptions imply, the next Agent will be an Initiator. Riot even teased an image from the next character joining the roster, but it only shows their legs while in a call with Brimstone.

Valorant kicked off 2023 with the launch of Episode 6, which introduced a new map to the competitive pool, Lotus, and brought back Split to the cycle with a few changes at the cost of removing Breeze and Bind from the competitive mode. Moreover, Swiftplay became a permanent mode in the game, which delivers a shortened version of Unrated with a small cash buff to both sides of the match.

Earlier this year, the executive producer behind Valorant, Anna Donlon, revealed that the game will receive a new team deathmatch mode later in 2023, but it will be Riot's very own take on the popular multiplayer mode. Fans can expect more updates on the Premier mode at a later date, as Riot is still working to bring the esports experience to players' homes.

The current Act of Valorant started on January 10th, 2023, and is expected to come to an end early next month. While Riot has not officially confirmed it, Agent 22 is expected to arrive with Episode 6 Act 2 sometime in March 2023.

Currently, Harbor is the most recent Agent to be added to Valorant, which was released back in 2022. It is yet to be seen what the new Agent would bring to the battlefield with their new abilities, but the arrival of Agent 22 will make Initiator the most populated role in the game with 6 Agents overall.

Frog I really don't care who I play as in video games as long as the gameplay is fun. I find it astonishing how much time, effort and money goes into doing up ones characters. I'd rather just chose an ability set like in Halo Reach and not have all these silly different characters.

The game could not be the same if you could pick ability sets...

I wasn't suggesting that ability sets be dropped, simply that they don't have to be attached to a personality
