The highly anticipated dungeon crawler from developer Blizzard Entertainment, Diablo 4, is set to launch on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC in June, but potential players will have the chance to get an early look at the game with open beta and early access dates recently announced by the company.
The events are going to be starting with an early access period running from March 17 to 19, something reserved exclusively for players who pre-purchase Diablo 4. The open beta however is currently scheduled to run from March 24 to 26 and will be available to everyone.
Blizzard has promised that both sessions will provide a "deep look into the early game including the Prologue and the entirety of Act 1,” capping players at level 25. Fans can expect more details about the game during a developer livestream which has been scheduled for February 28.
Diablo 4 has already been stirring up controversy with its controversial monetization model featuring a paid cosmetics store and live service elements like a regular season pass. Critics on the other hand have praised the game for its solid foundation, many calling Diablo 4 a substantial step forward for the series.
Blizzard has also unveiled the opening cutscene for Diablo 4 which features a lone warrior wandering a desolate landscape, this time the player character. The cutscene features a demonic dream along with all of the classic doom and gloom that fans know and love. The cinematic will feature a custom designed player character when the game finally ships.
Fans have been counting down the days until they can get their first taste of Diablo 4. With so much anticipation surrounding the game, Diablo 4 is sure to be one of the most talked about releases of the year, but whether it ultimately meets expectations remains to be seen. Diablo 4 is currently set to launch on June 6.
