Atomic Heart has been confirmed to have a graphical mode that runs at dynamic 4K 60 FPS, in an interview featuring Robert Bagratuni, founder and game director of developer Mundfish. He says that his team has been working hard to optimize the game on consoles, and given how ambitious the project is solely based on its gameplay trailers so far, that effort has seemingly not gone to waste.
Speaking in a lengthy interview with Wcfftech, Bagratuni also reveals that there will be specific areas in Atomic Heart that will run at native 4K. He says:
We worked a lot on optimization for consoles, providing one graphical mode with dynamic 4K 60FPS and even native 4K with a solid 60FPS in some parts of the game.
In the future, Mundfish hopes to provide further updates and patches to continue improving the game’s overall performance on consoles.
Bagratuni also confirms that Atomic Heart will support the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for the DualSense controller, though this compatibility will not be brought over to the PC version of the game at this time.
Additionally, he explains that the Field of View option will not be included in the settings for consoles or PC since the game “already features a wide FoV, higher than many other games.”
Atomic Heart looks ready for its February 21 launch date, announcing that it has gone gold a month ahead of time. As reported in 2021, the game is set in an alternate history in the Soviet Union and will feature two endings.
