Apex Legends Announces New Team Deathmatch Mode For Season 16

4.1
Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that Season 16 of Apex Legends will be titled 'Revelry' and will mark the debut of a brand new team deathmatch mode. The developers also published a new dev diary video and blog post, detailing many of the changes coming with the new season.

Apex Legends Season 16: Revelry will be released on Tuesday, February 14th and will be the first season not to feature a brand-new Legend. Instead, Respawn says it is putting more of a focus on the current Legends in the Apex Games. As such, all current Legends will receive some form of adjustment in the upcoming season. Respawn did also confirm that new Legends will be introduced in the future and that the developers were simply "taking a break" from releasing new Legends with each season.

Despite the lack of new Legends arriving with Season 16, there's still plenty of new content to look forward to. In the new developer deep dive, Respawn confirmed that the new season would see the launch of team deathmatch. The new mode will be available for the first 3 weeks of the season.

Respawn also says it has heard the fan feedback regarding a permanent modes playlist. As such, the beginning of March will see the arrival of 'Mixtape', a new playlist with a rotation of team deathmatch, gun run, and control. "we see Mixtape as a great way for players to test out a new Legend, practice their skills, and just experience that signature Apex Legends gameplay in real combat situations with little downtime between fights," Respawn said on the new playlist option.

Team deathmatch will consist of two teams going head to head in a 6v6 battle, with the first team to win two rounds winning the entire match. The first team to accumulate 30 kills will win a round but must win two rounds to win the entire match.

Also joining the new mode in Apex Legends is a brand new weapon, The Nemesis. According to Respawn, the developers are "hoping to see this potentially unseat favorite standbys like the R-301 and Flatline." Reportedly, this new weapon is a burst assault rifle with an increased fire rate every time the player shoots it.

Runts Love how far Alex has came ! Fort and Apex won't ever be touched lol

I really don't dig them but I do appreciate what they did for the gaming world. They stopped most of this pay-to-win crap in my eyes. I mean, I'm not a fan of the direction they led but they did the industry a great favour.

That's a bit of a different spin on TDM I suppose. Not sure why two rounds makes much difference, maybe just to switch the spawns?
