New PS5 Beta Quietly Fixes a VRR Screen Flickering Issue

4.1
Players have discovered that the new PS5 beta quietly fixes a screen flickering issue that occurs when variable refresh rate (VRR) is enabled in fidelity mode with unlocked framerate. The problem affected in-plane switching (IPS) monitors and has been documented by companies like Gigabyte.

List of games fixed by PS5 beta update
As reported by Reddit user kowalos, the aforementioned screen flickering issue impacted a large number of games including the recently released The Last of Us Part 1. While we don’t have a full list of games that suffered, Gigabyte has confirmed that the following titles were impacted:

Astro’s Playroom
Call of Duty: Vanguard
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Deathloop
Destiny 2
Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
DIRT 5
Godfall
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Resident Evil Village
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
Tribes of Midgard

In response to kowalos’ post, a number of users with IPS displays confirmed that they no longer face the screen flickering issue.

The PS5 firmware beta is currently open via an invite system to participants in the U.S., Canada, Japan, U.K., Germany, and France. A global release date for the full firmware update hasn’t been announced.

Runts Idk about anyone else but I haven't had any ps5 issues fr. Only thing I don't like is the dashboard / navigation is slow compared to Xbox.

Yeah, i feel it's something that would only be noticed or affect a very small section of users

It doesn't really sound like something that needs to be fixed with a big fuss made in all honesty
