Gears 6 and Remastered Collection Leak Debunked by Xbox

4.3
A recent leak with regards to Gears of War 6 and a new remastered collection of the original trilogy has been debunked. The Gears of War series is probably second to Halo in terms of really big, important franchises on Xbox. It was one of the first big Xbox 360 exclusives and players immediately gravitated it for its gory combat, fun PvP multiplayer, and gripping co-op campaign. The series would then go on to spawn multiple sequels and spin-offs, but it has lost a little bit of steam in recent years. It has been four years since Gears 5 and we haven't heard so much as a peep about the next game, leaving many wondering what's next for the mainline saga.

Nevertheless, a recent leak from The XboxEra Podcast claimed to have logos for both Gears 6 and a new "Ultimate Collection" of games from the series, remastered or remade for modern consoles. The first game already got the remake treatment some time ago, but fans have been hoping to see Gears of War 2 and 3 get all glossed up for Xbox Series X|S. The hosts of the podcast noted that the leak could be easily fake as it was unverified and... it seems that was exactly the case. Xbox marketing director for Halo and Gears of War responded to a report about the leak and claimed that it was "fake news". So, at the very least, the source of this leak is probably not legit and would mean none of the information is accurate.

It seems pretty likely that Gears 6 is in the works and we're probably due for a reveal sometime this year, based on how long it has been since the last entry. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen, but it is also unclear if a Gears of War collection is coming. It's something fans really want and there have been whispers of it, but nothing super concrete has come of it yet.

Anhur Unfortunate honestly. I was really hoping for a Gow3 remake. GoW5 online wasn't the worst but they really needed some new maps. I'm a fan of playing the occasional blood drive from time to time but its been remastered over 7 times. At least in CoD it alternates between Shipment and Nuketown.

I hope GoW6 can create some sort of hype. It's a fantastic series its just a shame that the online is going into the "objective gamemode" route rather than the classic TDM/SnD game modes we grew up on. I'm a fan of Hardpoint but i don't want it to be the focused gamemode to the point that SnD doesn't exist.

I never got super into the online parts of the games, but this and dead rising was the two xbox titles I feel like i grew up on and gears 3 man holy god up to then it was the shit, I LOVED horde and the Beast mode in 3 and that death was insane in the campaign from the buildup of the previous 2 games I just replayed the series this year with a buddy and it still got to me haha but there's something about 4 and 5 that just wasn't the same. I guess ending of 4 did have a twist but honestly I remember those last two less than the first 4 including judgment. I also couldn't get into horde, I loved how simple it used to be in even Gears 2 horde on arcade and gears 3 with the fences and turrents. I really really hope gears 6 brings it cause the last 2 gears look absolutely beautiful I just can't find myself liking the direction. It's may just be me holding the nostalgia like I do with old MW2 compared to new cods though lol

Yeah I never got into the online too much, only for a couple of weeks. I really enjoyed the stories of Gears but I didn't play any since Gears 3

CalicoReidso at least we know it's fake news now, but it the near future, it may become true

I'm sure that it will, there's far too big of a fan base and opportunity to make money for it not to

I swear there was an article saying this a week or so ago?

Honestly good because it was a slap in the face how bad gears fell off after 3
