Ex-Apple Exec Ben King Joins PlayStation To Lead Its Digital Business

3.8
Ben King, who previously worked at Apple as a service executive, has been snapped up by Sony Interactive Entertainment as its new senior VP of direct-to-consumer, which sees King overseeing the console maker’s digital offerings including the PlayStation Store and DTC businesses.

Said King of his new role:

The PlayStation Store has become one of the most visited digital media stores on the planet. This gives us the unique opportunity to think creatively about the relationship with our users, helping them to unlock maximum fun and joy from the PlayStation ecosystem, while simultaneously creating financial opportunity for our games studio partners.

We have the ability to better serve our community by delivering more personalized experiences, helping each and every customer to discover the perfect entertainment for them, through the right channel, at the right time.

King will now report to Veronica Rogers, SVP, Head of Global Sales and Business Operations. He previously served as chief subscription officer at DAZN before departing in mid-2022, and before that worked at Apple where held numerous positions across iTunes, App Store and Apple Music including international marketing, business development and general management.

Sony announced earlier this month that the PS5 has sold 30 million units worldwide since its launch in November 2020.

I don't. I don't know him, I don't like Apple and I couldn't care less if he succeeds :p
