Final Fantasy 14 details Paladin job changes for Patch 6.3

3.3
Final Fantasy XIV has detailed what players can expect from the revamped Paladin job.

The Paladin will undergo significant alterations as part of the upcoming Patch 6.3, resulting in its rotation being changed, and during Live Letter 75 hosted by Naoki Yoshida and Toshio Murouchi, three aims for the rework were outlined.

The first is to make changes to the Paladin's action efficiency and rotations so that it was more capable of dealing burst damage.

The developers have shortened the job's rotation to "accommodate high-powered actions", while the Paladin will be able to use one "enhanced" and cast-free Holy Spirit following a weaponskill combo through a new Divine Might effect.

The Paladin will also be less reliant on damage-over-time (DoT) effects.

Goring Blade and Blade of Valor will no longer have DoT effects, with their potency also being adjusted as a result. There's no mention of Circle of Scorn, suggesting that ability will retain its DoT.

Lastly, the job will see its defensive capabilities reworked. This includes Holy Sheltron's effect to be altered to reduce the damage taken, meaning the Paladin should be able to better handle DoT damage.

A revamped Bulwark ability is also coming back, "offering increased defensive capability".

No further details were shared at this stage, but a number of other changes to the Paladin's actions and combos have been altered.

A number of other jobs will see more minor tweaks to their current actions, but again, no further information was given regarding that.

Patch 6.3 – 'Gods Revel, Lands Tremble – launches on January 10, 2023, and also comes with a new dungeon (Lapis Manalis), trial, and alliance raid (Euphrosyne), plus updates to PvP, Island Sanctuary and UI, including the ability to see the remaining time for any buffs and debuffs in the part list.

6.31, releasing two weeks later, will see a new Ultimate raid, while a new crafting tribal quest (Loporrits) and Deep Dungeon (Eureka Orthos) are being planned for 6.35.

Previously, Patch 6.28 saw minor potency adjustments to a number of jobs, aimed at improving the DPS of Reaper, Warrior, and ranged jobs (minus Dancer).
