Apex Legends Cheaters Are Boosting Themselves on Empty Ranked Server

4
Cheating is essentially endemic in the gaming community, and Apex Legends is no exception, with players recently discovering that cheaters are using an effectively abandoned server in Bahrain to boost themselves. It's pretty self-explanatory, but for those unfamiliar with the term, boosting is when players cheat and use false methods to boost their levels or ranks in a game. For Apex Legends, these players are boosting themselves into the upper echelons of the ranked system, including and up to Predator Rank.

As many know, Apex Legends' ranked system is not easy to climb or grind. It gets harder and more expensive (in terms of RP entry cost and rewards) as players climb through Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Masters, and Predator. That final tier, for example, represents the top 750 players on a given platform and is highly coveted as a result, and while some plays struggle to grind through even Gold or Platinum, these cheaters are basically shooting straight to the top.

As first reported by Dexerto, Bahrain has its own server in Apex Legends, but because of its geographical position, players there migrate to more popular servers that surround the region. This has left the Bahrain server all but empty, except for the boosters who are loading into it, boosting their kills, and quickly ascending through the ranked tiers of Apex Legends. When video evidence was obtained of this, the boosters quickly left the match (as regaining the RP via this method would be incredibly easy). It should be noted that there was a video of this on the Subreddit, but it has since been taken down for violating community standards. In it, players could be seen boosting kill counts into the 30s, gaining thousands of RP in an instant.

What makes this particular method of cheating in Apex Legends worse is that there is little way for players to take action. In games like Apex Legends, bans often come as a result of reports, but if the entire server is composed of cheaters, then it stands to reason no reports would follow. Obviously, these players do not have the best intentions for this behavior, nor is it fair to those who work hard at the game.

After all, 30+ kills in an Apex Legends match is almost unheard of in the community. Some top players manage that, but it depends on the lobby. For context, the Apex Legends Solo vs. Squads record of kills is 37, which is an incredible feat, and this new one broke the old record of 36. That record had lasted since the first two weeks of Apex Legends' launch. It remains to be seen what happens from here, but one can expect Respawn to take action against the cheaters.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
