NBA 2K23 Details MyTEAM Improvements

The fall sports season is nearly here and 2K Sports is giving basketball fans plenty of reasons to look forward to NBA 2K23's release next month. The annual basketball franchise has started to show off plenty about the new game, including improved animations and challenges themed around NBA legend Michael Jordan. Fans have already begun to predict changes for the new game between new ratings and improvements to popular game modes like MyCareer and MyTEAM. Now, the newest NBA trailer gives fans an in-depth look at changes coming to the MyCareer mode.

2K Sports' newest NBA 2K23 trailer shows off a variety of features coming in the franchise's newest iteration with a mix of new game modes, playstyles, and even mechanical changes. 2K23 will bring back MyTEAM's Seasons with new competitive seasons rotating every six weeks with "more ways to progress and earn rewards." MyTEAM's Unlimited mode will be making significant adjustments to its ranking system, moving to a game-by-game progression system as well as introducing a leaderboard. The highest ranked of Unlimited will also now feature new Prestige tiers with further rewards.

The shifts to MyTEAM's ranking system will also be joined by new ways to play pre-existing game modes. NBA 2K23 will introduce online co-op to MyTEAM's Triple Threat game mode, allowing players to team up with other players online in lobbies of up to six. MyTEAM in NBA 2K23 will also debut a single-player variant to the popular fast-paced Clutch Time game mode, allowing players to play Clutch Time offline for the first time. MyTEAM will also introduce weekly limited challenges called "Eras" with team-building restrictions.

The debut trailer for NBA 2K23's MyTEAM mode featured two major mechanical changes coming to 2K23, both to Triple Threat and MyTEAM as a whole. MyTEAM in 2K23 will no longer use a contract system, meaning players can now freely restart single-player matches without worrying about using games from a player's contract. NBA 2K23 will also introduce a "locked position" control scheme, allowing players to control one specific player or position throughout a full MyTEAM match.

Alongside other changes coming to the annual basketball game, NBA 2K23 will place an increased focus on the WNBA. Similarly to last year, NBA 2K23 will feature a WNBA edition of the physical game featuring an alternate cover with the Seattle Storm's Sue Bird and the Phoenix Mercury's Diana Taurasi. NBA 2K23 will also see several new gameplay elements for the game's WNBA-focused modes, including league expansion and the WNBA All-Star Game and Commissioner's Cup. NBA 2K23 looks to have something for every basketball fan when it launches next month.

NBA 2K23 will release on September 9th for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
