Leaked footage shows Halo Infinite’s Forge used to reinvent its guns

New footage has leaked showing Halo Infinite’s Forge mode in action.

Forge, which allows players to make custom game modes using a suite of tools and scripting options, is due to release at the end of this year as a free update, after it was delayed from the launch game.

The latest footage, published by Twitter user ‘Rebs Gaming’, shows the flexibility Forge offers in modding Infinite’s weapons.

Using the tools, users can effectively transplant one weapon’s effects to another, such as by making the Cindershot fire rockets, or having the Gravity Hammer hit like an Energy Sword.

In one segment of gameplay, the footage even shows a weapon functioning like the Gravity Gun from Half-Life 2.

Forge has been in closed testing with a small group of community creators since earlier this year, and is planned for Infinite’s Season 3.

But with the extended Season 1 having lasted over six months by the time Season 2 arrived, that means it could theoretically not arrive until the end of the year.

343 Industries recently announced that Halo Insiders will get the chance to playtest Halo Infinite‘s campaign co-op mode next month.

In a development progress update delivered in April, 343 said it was targeting “late August” for the release of the game’s long-awaited online co-op mode.

However, split-screen won’t arrive until Season 3 in November at the earliest, according to its roadmap.

Microsoft recently announced that prolific support studio Certain Affinity has taken on additional Halo Infinite development duties.
