Windows 8 getting 'late October' release

Microsoft's new Windows 8 operating system will be launched to consumers in 'late October'.

So confirmed Tami Reller, corporate vice president of Windows, to partners attending Microsoft's worldwide partner conference in Toronto.
The OS will be released to manufacturing in the first week of August, and business users will get it around the same time, with those versions going out "as early as the beginning of August", according to MS (via ZDNet).

Video game support is expected to be a major part of the new OS, with MS having announced the integration of Xbox Live into the platform, and speculation that it may be capable of playing Xbox 360 games.

Its too much like the xbox dashboard in a way.


I know right. Microsoft needs to come up with some new idea's. They base every thing off of their windows phone. The xbox dashboard windows 8 and the Phone. C'mon microsoft think of something new.


I don't think it matters, it's just the dashboard, we barely use it.

It doesn't need to be too special in my opinion.
I wish they would just stick with the normal windows style


It would be super cool if you could take your xbox games and put them on your pc and play. Because last year I had to buy 2 copies of skyrim. One for my xbox and the other for my computer.
