Following a week of limited access, Battlefield 2042 has finally released. With the game now available for all players to download and play, many have been checking out the Portal editor. New to the series, this mode allows creative fans the opportunity to create all sorts of custom games. Recently, one fan decided to utilize the new feature to make a custom game involving the wingsuit.
Battlefield 2042 introduces a lot of new gameplay features to the Battlefield series. One of the more extreme items is the wingsuit. Available when playing as the specialist Sundance, players gain the ability to glide a considerable distance through the air. In addition to covering large areas in a short time, wingsuits can catch enemies off guard, resulting in exciting gameplay moments. To help gamers get acclimated to using this ability, one player came up with an ingenious way to practice gliding.
In a post on Reddit, a user known as andygmb shared a video from Battlefield 2042. In the clip, they revealed that they had created a custom wingsuit course. The motive behind the design was to help those that wanted to improve at using the new ability. The gameplay video showcased the training course in action. It started with a player at the top of a high skyscraper. After a brief second, they jumped off the edge of the structure and proceeded to glide through a collection of rings set amidst the tall buildings. This course forced the player to readjust their flight path and make fine movements to pass through all the checkpoints and reach the goal.
In addition to showcasing the training course, andygmb revealed an unusual detail behind the creation process. According to the creator, they used bots to form the rings. These bots in Battlefield 2042 served as a creative alternative for other visual elements since andygmb said they were unavailable to use in the Portal mode. Furthermore, the creator revealed plans to share the code for the training course in the future for those that want to practice.
This new Portal wingsuit training course created by andygmb has become popular with many members of the Battlefield 2042 community on Reddit. With over 6,200 upvotes in only a day, many were impressed with the design made by the creator. Fans commented that this new creation showcased the possibilities of the new Portal mode.
Following the completion of this wingsuit course, it will be interesting to see if andygmb decides to create more training courses for Battlefield 2042. With more people having access to the game following the November 19 launch, it seems likely that even more content involving the Portal mode will begin to appear in the coming days.
Battlefield 2042 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
