As with every game in the Call of Duty series, there was a significant amount of hype surrounding Call of Duty: Vanguard leading up to its launch on November 5. While fans enjoy many aspects of this new entry, such as the improvements made since the beta, the game still comes with several glitches. Recently, one player discovered an unusual bug while checking out the multiplayer.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as Benguinn shared a clip they recorded while playing Call of Duty: Vanguard. During a game of team deathmatch, the user had an encounter with a deadly door. The video started with the player making a nice play on an enemy outside of a building. After securing the kill with an STG44 assault rifle, Benguinn quickly went inside the structure. Moving swiftly through a dining room, they made their way to a kitchen area. Attempting to stay mobile, they headed for an exit at the back of the room. However, they failed to realize that they were at death’s door.

What happened next was as shocking as it was frustrating for the gamer. As they neared the exit door in the kitchen, an ally suddenly opened it and ran past. Undeterred, Benguinn continued towards the exit. However, once he reached the door, they suddenly found themselves flying across the room and subsequently killed. Benguinn’s voice could be heard through the open mic. “What?” they said, stunned by what happened. Apparently, the player had died to a door.


This unfortunate video shared by Benguinn caught the attention of a number of players in the Call of Duty: Vanguard community on Reddit. With over 90 upvotes in only a couple of hours, fellow gamers were surprised by the swift and unexpected death of Benguinn caused by the door. In addition, some players could commiserate with Beguinn, noting that strange deaths had happened to them as well. A fellow Reddit user, known as Straker94, revealed that they had died on the Gavutu map on a platform close to the B flag. According to the user, “it rose up and I got wedged into the ship haha.”

This isn’t the first time players have encountered a murderous door in the Call of Duty series. Last summer, gamers discovered a door in Call of Duty: Warzone that would kill them if they walked too close to it as well.

In addition to this unusual door glitch, many players have encountered issues with multiplayer games in Call of Duty: Vanguard. Some have complained about issues with skill-based matchmaking, while others have reported problems with cheaters ruining the competitive integrity of games. While it is unclear what caused a door to kill Benguinn, these types of glitches are doubtlessly annoying for players. It will be interesting to see how the developers at Sledgehammer Games address these bugs moving forward.
