Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 5 launches on August 12

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 5 will launch on August 12, Activision has revealed.

Alongside the announcement, the publisher released a cinematic trailer for Season 5, which you can watch below.

The official Season 5 artwork released on Tuesday was leaked earlier this week by Call of Duty dataminer Nanikos (via Charlie Intel), who claimed the “Japanese themed” season will include new Operator Kitsune, who appears to be wielding akimbo TEC-9 pistols.

They also claimed that Outbreak is scheduled to receive a new region called Weather Station (an area that will include Summit), and that Summit will be released as a standalone multiplayer map, “likely this season, if not it’ll be season 6”.

Activision could confirm further details about the new content during its quarterly earnings call later on Tuesday.

The company may also provide an update on the next mainline series entry, which VGC understands to be Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Developed by Sledgehammer Games, the title is expected to be officially revealed later in the summer, likely via an in-game event in free-to-play Warzone, as Black Ops Cold War was last year.

Vanguard will feature a campaign, multiplayer and Zombies modes set in the European and Pacific theatres of World War II, with its plot centring around the birth of modern allied Special Forces.

It will also launch alongside an entirely new Warzone map said to be set in the Pacific theatre and significantly larger than the current Verdansk map.

Raven Software released a new Warzone update on Monday, which removed the Juggernaut Suit Field Upgrade from Red Door rooms in Plunder and included various bug fixes.

Activision Blizzard announced on Tuesday that Blizzard president J. Allen Brack is leaving the company.

Brack is one of the few Activision Blizzard employees referred to by name in last month’s lawsuit by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which accuses the company of failing to handle sexual harassment and discrimination against female employees.

Replacing Brack will be Jen Oneal and Mike Ybarra, who have been appointed co-leaders of Blizzard.
