PlayStation 5 players can already get their hands on a slate of content with a PlayStation Plus subscription, whether that's the exclusive next-generation games included in its monthly lineup of free titles or a library of PlayStation 4 classics known as the PlayStation Plus Collection. However, it seems owners of Sony's latest console can now grab themselves a free subscription to a popular streaming service, and they don't even need to subscribe to PlayStation Plus to get it.
As announced by Sony over on its official website, any owner of a PlayStation 5 can redeem a 6-month subscription to Apple TV+. The offer will be available from now until July 22, 2022, so those who haven't managed to get their hands on the elusive console have a long time before it expires.
All they'll need to redeem the trial is a PlayStation account and a PlayStation 5 console. After launching the device, players can navigate over to the media tab, select Apple TV, and sign in with or create an Apple ID. After doing so, they'll get to enjoy their six-month trial. Current Apple TV+ customers can also use the deal, with Sony stating that it'll work for both standard subscribers and those on a free trial. Unfortunately, there is a caveat for Apple TV+ customers who are subscribed through bundle offers, with Sony confirming that those signed up to services like Apple One won't be able to redeem the trial.
As for what they'll find once their free stint begins, Apple TV+ has a range of original TV shows and movies, including the likes of soccer-coaching comedy Ted Lasso, sci-fi drama See, and video game development sitcom, Mythic Quest. There's a range of movies too, with the streaming service featuring Spider-Man star Tom Holland's latest release, Cherry, as well as WW2 action drama Greyhound and director Sofia Coppola's new comedy, On the Rocks. It's slated to welcome even more content in the next few months, with both See and The Morning Show getting second seasons.
PlayStation players can also look forward to more freebies via PlayStation Plus early next month, with Sony announcing one of the games that will headline its monthly lineup of free games. Hunter's Arena: Legends will be available for no additional cost in early August, bringing with it a unique, melee-based battle royale experience. The other games are currently unknown, with Sony likely announcing them at the tail-end of the month. In the meantime, fans looking for some games can find new free titles on the Epic Games Store this week, while they can also hop into some Xbox games this weekend as part of Microsoft's Free Days of Play promotion.
Players can redeem their 6-month Apple TV subscription on PlayStation 5 from now until July 22, 2022.
