Xbox Cloud Gaming is now widely available on PC and iOS

Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox Cloud Gaming has been made available to all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers on PC and iOS.

Additionally, the service is now being powered by custom Xbox Series X hardware.

Previously powered by Xbox One S consoles, Xbox Cloud Gaming debuted for Android mobile devices in September 2020, offering access to over 100 games using a compatible controller (over 50 of these games now also support touch controls).

In April, Microsoft began inviting Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to a cloud gaming beta for Windows 10 PCs and Apple devices via web browsers Edge, Chrome and Safari.

The service was today opened to all Game Pass subscribers on PC and iOS, and it has also been upgraded to provide “significant improvements” to the overall experience.

“Xbox Cloud Gaming is now powered by custom Xbox Series X hardware,” Xbox Cloud Gaming VP and head of product Catherine Gluckstein wrote on Xbox Wire. “We’ve been upgrading Microsoft datacenters around the globe with the fastest, most powerful Xbox hardware to give you faster load times, improved frame rates, and an experience of a new generation of gaming.

“To ensure the lowest latency, highest quality experience across the broadest set of devices, we will be streaming at 1080p and up to 60fps. Going forward we’ll continue to innovate and add more features to enhance your cloud gaming experience.”

Microsoft also unveiled a new range of accessories designed for cloud gaming on iOS.
