Outriders has done the numbers.

According to an announcement from Square Enix today, Outriders saw over 3.5 million players worldwide during its first month of release

The game is set in a sci-fi world and is a third-person shooter featuring a progression system and itemization options to create a variety of class builds. If you have yet to pick it up, the demo is still available on PC and consoles.

Additionally, from now through the end of the month, Square Enix is offering a variety of limited-time price promotions across all platforms. Check online stores and retailers for details.

Outriders released on April 1 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

“With over 3.5 million unique players, average playtimes of over 30 hours and extremely high engagement for co-operative play, we and the amazing team at People Can Fly are so excited with this initial success,” said Jon Brooke, co-head of studio at Square Enix External Studios.

“Launching a new game IP is never easy and we remain very grateful for the community’s support and feedback – we continue to listen carefully and want to assure everyone that we are committed to improving and enhancing the experience in the coming weeks and months.

“We also look forward to expanding on Outriders in the future.”

Ill give my 2 cents since i played this game for 100+ hours.

Don't get this game if you're heavy into online play. This game does P2P (peer to peer) in 2021 which is wild to think about. If you're not host of the game expect to be at a 200ms ping latency. And there's no fix to it. I played with my nephew whos in the next room over and still had insane lag.

The story mode is okay, i didn't have a bad time running through it. I got stuck on some parts of the story due to being underleveled but it wasn't the hardest. It's around 6 hours long and a extra 2-3 hours for the side missions. I say 2-3 because it could be faster IF the markers they gave you to follow wasn't always dead ends and forces you to reset the game to fix it.

A solid 20 frames on console (Xbox one X) while in fights and if it drops too low (which happens a lot) the game crashes. On a good day it will be at a solid 60 for the most part so i would only get the game on PC if i didn't already commit 100 hours on perfecting my gear.

Some of the abilities (mods) don't work if you aren't host of the game. One of the important mods (killing things reset your ammo capacity, which is important to keep up on certain classes) you lose it a lot even if you get last hits on enemies.

And at the moment, the game is extremely broken. Characters with pure armor are getting 1 shot by minions and squishy's don't stand a chance in the endgame unless you play it absolutely perfect.

Tl;dr, Either wait until they polish the game 2-4 months down the road or get it on the game pass if you're a console player. Story mode is okay but not 60$ okay.
