Outriders developer People Can Fly says it intends to share “specific details” behind the game’s prevalent online issues which occurred this week.
Since the game launched on Friday, players have experienced widespread issues logging onto servers, and with no offline mode, this has left many unable to play the game.
People Can Fly has kept users up to date via its social media accounts and attempted to fix the issues with server restarts, with mixed results.
At the time or writing, Outriders’ servers are reportedly stable. Asked by a fan if it would provide “a proper post mortem” detailing what went wrong and lessons learnt, People Can Fly said that it would.
“We’re still continually working through it all, but we’re hoping to in the near future share more specific details about what’s going on and what we’ve been doing about it,” it said.
Outside of the server issues, the Square Enix shooter appears to have enjoyed a very successful launch this week.

Just hours after release, Outriders hit a peak PC player count more than three times higher than the publisher’s other online action game, Marvel’s Avengers, which represents Square Enix’s biggest day one Steam launch to date.
And that’s without factoring in activity on other platforms, including on Xbox where Outriders is available at no additional cost to subscribers of Xbox Game Pass.
Currently, all first-party Xbox titles are released on Game Pass alongside their general releases, but third-party games typically arrive later. Outriders has been one of the few exceptions.
Originally announced at E3 2019, Outriders is a 1-3 player co-op shooter from Bulletstorm developer People Can Fly. The game supports cross-play across all formats, but this peak player total only counts Steam players.
Square Enix recently released an Outriders demo which gives players the opportunity to play the first few hours of the game, with all classes available to experience.
