MW3 – Robert Bowling Defends Deathstreaks and Talks DLC

4.5
When it comes to the Modern Warfare series of the Call of Duty franchise, one of the biggest and most controversial issues lies with Infinity Ward’s (and now Sledghammer’s) decision to include deathstreaks in their games. Quickly, for those who don’t know, deathstreaks are in-game rewards, like faster sprint or more bullet damage for a short period of time, that a player receives for dying a certain number of times in a row. It was initially meant as a way to help out new players to the Call of Duty franchise or FPSs in general, but a large number of fans believe that is simply does not belong in a game like Modern Warfare 3.

When fans looked to Creative Strategist, Robert Bowling, saying that deathstreaks are a frustrating part of their CoD experience, he responded, “I agree but its a feature that is appreciated by an equally as large user base. One of those things.” While it may not seem like it, Bowling assures us that “many people reach out to express their appreciation for deathstreaks, helping them back into the fight.” Of course, Infinity Ward has listened to fan feedback in the past and removed infamous perks like Stopping Power and Last Stand, though they do appear in one form or another as deathstreaks in their latest title. When asked why the teams behind MW3 decided to remove Last Stand, yet keep Final Stand (the deathstreak version of the perk), Bowling simply responded, “Because Last Stand could happen every death, where Final Stand only happens after doing extremely poorly for a while in a row.”

Of course, it can be a monumental task to try to please everyone, especially when you “have 30 million people who play COD games online,” according to Bowling.

On a lighter note. Bowling also took some feedback for DLC ideas. One fan asked if they would ever consider releasing a free DLC that strictly included Modern Warfare 2 maps. Bowling answered, “Personally, I would love that! I miss my old favorites, but no DLC announcements yet.

cod 4 was the first cod i played,I **** HATED IT. Then i played waw when it came out, then mw2 came out and i went back to cod4 and it was really amazing after i got into cod. Cod 4 and cod 5 were my favorites. Now they aren't the same.

why dont they make a michal miars map that seems its played on every call of duty game if they truely listened to there fans then they would have put modes in public matches that involved micheal miyars quick scoping and other stuff including my personal favorates gun game for public matches that give advanced players xp and noob players expirience in games like that it makes no sence to have kill comphermed because everyone still camps in there you gain 50+ points for getting the kill and you get 50+ for getting the tags it should be the person doesn't get the kill unless the person goes and gets the tags call of duty milked the cash cow again telling us on the online gamer that it would ruin campers but it really wasn't any diffrent then the rest of the call of duty games modern warfare 3 just has a better private match mode and special ops is 10x better and enjoyable to play but since the maps have no hiding spots to snipe from and there so caged in that you can actually sit there in a corner and get a 10+ kill streak i cant tell you how many times ive gotten camp killed by a guy standing on a stair case the spawning is terribal for games like domination because it spawns you right were the enimy's can spawn kill you its truly a piece of garbage but sadly its still better then black ops

M14 If they are making a map pack for MW3 with MW2 classic maps it will be really great for it to be a free dlc since we have already bought it from pass games. It makes sense
if that was the case why wasnt the map pack that had orginal maps from the first modern warfare free for MW2. oh thats right there money hungry. ha

All's they do is get the death streak, get one kill with it, and go back to repeating the process over and over again.

fix the issues in those games. no graphic updates. across all platforms. **** all this new money mongering garbage. and give promod support on console for the kiddies who think they can do it.

you cant play and get good. too bad. life's a bitch, play something else.

People who complain about deathstreaks need to sit down and think for a second. This is a game, games are meant to be fun! I have personally heard people say MW3 is "too hard". Deathstreaks make the people that maybe don't play 5 hours a day maybe get a kill once and a while. I myself do take the game too serious, (getting angry when I die and complain a lot) and realize what other people must feel like if they are no good at the game. Anyway, everyone just needs to remember the game is for fun, go in MLG if you don't think deathstreaks are fair.
