Next week’s free Epic Games Store title has been revealed.

Halcyon 6: Lightspeed Edition, a retro space strategy RPG from developer and publisher Massive Damage, will be free to download from February 11-18.

It will replace For the King and Metro Last Light Redux, which normally cost £15.49 and £14.99 respectively, but are currently free until February 11.

Epic claimed last week that the Epic Games Store has attracted over 160 million PC users since its launch in December 2018.

The company has been giving away free titles on a weekly basis since the marketplace launched, including 103 games in 2020, collectively worth $2,407 based on US prices. Epic said users claimed over 749 million free titles last year.

Epic claimed daily active users rose 192% to 31.3 million in 2020, with peak concurrent users reaching 13 million, compared to seven million in 2019. Monthly active users also hit 56 million in December 2020, versus 32 million in December 2019.

Epic Games Store customers spent over $700 million last year, with third-party games accounting for 37% ($265m) of the total.

The number of titles available on the Epic Games Store grew from 190 in 2019 to 471 in 2020, while total hours played rose 70% year-over-year, from 3.35 billion in 2019 to 5.70 billion in 2020.

“In 2021, we’re going to rapidly expand the catalog of new titles available on the Epic Games Store even further by providing developers with self-publishing tools for the EGS Platform and we’ll be releasing details on those specific plans soon,” Epic said.
