Overwatch is free to try until January 4

And you’ll be able to pick up the game at 50% off on PC until then.

Team shooter Overwatch is going to be free to play until the start of next year.

Blizzard has said that people can check out the game free of charge on PC until January 4. This isn’t some limited trial, either; players can experience the full game, including all 32 heroes and 28 maps. Any progress that they make during this time will be carried on to the full game so long as they actually go on and buy it.

For the duration of this free trial, Overwatch will be 50% off on PC, but there are also going to be discounts for Overwatch: Legendary Edition on PlayStation and Xbox stores.

This isn’t the first time that Overwatch has been free-to-play, but generally Blizzard’s shooter can be played for nothing just for a weekend – save for that time the company made the game free-to-play for an entire month in China back in 2017. Oh, and its anniversary events where it’s free to for a week.

Blizzard is working on Overwatch 2 at the moment. The title was announced at Blizzcon 2019, but there’s still no word on when the game will be out. Director Jeff Kaplan has said not to expect 21 new heroes when it does come out, however. The company recently announced that we’ll be hearing more about Overwatch 2 in February 2021 at the an online-only Blizzonline event.

Would definitely recommend to anyone who hasn't tried it, may not be for everyone but fun with a couple friends for sure! :)
