Error Leads to Xbox Live user Being Awarded Four Billion Microsoft Points

4.5
Yes, that’s four billion Microsoft Points right there. An error in the Xbox Live Rewards program awarded many users more Microsoft Points than they were supposed to receive. To most people this amounted to less than $5 worth but this user reported a gain of $53,687,089.20. Imagine all the content you could buy with that. In the end it was all for naught as Microsoft quickly reclaimed all the points awarded in error. Apparently what caused this was Microsoft gave the user too many points, which he proceeded to spend right away, so when Microsoft went to take the points back, his Points went into the negative, causing the glitch to occur.

RadioDust I'm pretty sure the max amount anyone can have is 80,000? You can't hack higher than that anyway. I'm sure microsoft will take these away from the people soon enough.

It wasn't a hack. It was a glitch on Micro$ofts error. So yes they can give him 4 billion M$ points accidentally. And yes they did take them away. Did you even read the article?

after attempting to take the points back, I'm sure Microsoft was like ****, and being negative it's really not the guys fault, the typical person would go and buy things with that many points, and I'm sure he did and microsoft would have to resolve that conflict with them but in the end microsoft should not charge them for the points they spent because it is an error in microsofts part and not theirs
