XBOX 720 Smaller & Cheaper than 360

4.6
The next-generation Xbox will be a lot smaller and far cheaper than the Xbox 360, claims a new report.

Blogger MS nerd, who Industry Gamers notes has previously reported accurate early information on Microsoft's abandoned Courier tablet, says the machine will also contain ARM-based processors and run a version of Windows 9.
"With a heady mix of rumors, tips and speculation, I am now stating that Xbox codename "loop" (the erstwhile XboxTV) will indeed debut a modified Win9 core," claims the report.

"It will use a Zune HD-like hardware platform-a "main" processor with multiple dedicated assistive cores for graphics, AI, physics, sound, networking, encryption and sensors. It will be custom designed by Microsoft and two partners based on the ARM architecture," they added.

"It will be cheaper than the 360, further enabling Kinect adoption. And it will be far smaller than the 360. It will also demonstrate how Windows Phone could possible implement Win9's dev platform on the lower end."

These claims come amidst increased chatter surrounding the next-gen consoles, most recently from respected industry site Develop who rumoured that Microsoft is planning a Christmas 2013 launch for the as yet unannounced Xbox.

djcut To all the people whining about it being cheaper. Its cheaper because the technology needed is more readily available, so no, its not going to break easier or have more flaws. An example; DVD players were $200 or $300 when they first came out. now you can go buy one that looks twice as good and works better for about half that

there like 30 bucks now lol

Buncez Does this mean the games will become 10 more expensive as they seemed to do every time a new console comes out? -_-

no i doubt it since we already have pc games running higher then 360, devs can just port games from pc to 720 but with higher specs then they could before with 360 :P, also i think they might be digital only if so they will probably be $50 a download, and if not they will do digital and disc, so $50 digital, $60 disc.. thats what i think anyways

Hopefully it's still a hardcore gaming machine. I don't want a Microsoft adaptation of the wii. That'd suck diiiiiccckkkkk

Otherwise, really excited! Can't wait to see what the future has in store!
