DriveClub Won’t Have Any ‘Meaningful Upgrades’ When Played On PS5

DriveClub director Paul Rustchynsky has said that the racer will not feature any ‘meaningful upgrades’ when played on the PS5, as well as pouring cold water on any hopes of seeing a remaster or follow-up to the game.

DriveClub PS5 Won’t Feature Any Meaningful Upgrades
Speaking on Twitter, Rustchynsky made it clear that there won’t be any major advantages to playing the game on Sony’s new console, as it was already in a pretty solid state on the PS4.

There will be no meaningful upgrades as is. The frame rate is capped at 30fps & the resolution at 1080p. Even the loading times were already amazing. Sony have GT as their key racing franchise & the cost to bring even a remaster back would cost a fortune in licensing.

Elsewhere, he switched gears to MotorStorm, another franchise that has gone the way of the Dodo thanks to Evolution Studios’ closure.

Sony owns the IP & could resurrect it at any time, but I’m not aware of any projects underway. I’d say chances are low, but I wouldn’t rule it out. So keep the hope!

DriveClub was released for the PS4 in 2014 and you can read our review of the game here.
